The IL-95 In-Line amplifier provides up to 30dB of gain with the sliding volume control. A further 10dB is added when the Boost Button is pressed and held down.
As there is the possibility of feedback when the Boost Button is used, the microphone in the handset is muted while the Boost Button is active. If you do need the extra gain of the Boost Button on a call, then you press to listen and release to talk.
This amplifier also has a Tone Switch so that you can adjust the pitch of the sound.
The amplifier switches on automatically when the handset is lifted and switches off automatically when the handset is replaced on the phone.
This amplifier has a 12 position compatibility selector so it is compatible with 99.9% of corded handset telephones, including Telstra configured telephones (usually position 10).
It is NOT compatible with cordless telephones.
Please note that if the telephone is connected to a PABX system, and the phone has an LCD display panel or similar, in some instances the red light may not turn off when the handset is hung up.
This is because the display data signal transmission is seen on the audio lines and prevents the amplifier from automatically turning off.
With the increased electrical drive to the telephone earpiece, there is also an increase in the inductive field strength for telecoil users.
