Often asked: “Why would I need an ALD instead of a hearing aid?" This question should more properly be – "Why would I need a hearing aid instead of an ALD?"
ALDs are easier to manage and they can be incredibly versatile.
They are far more useful in many diverse listening situations than a standard hearing aid. Although, if your hearing needs are ONLY for one to one conversations in quiet, then a hearing aid is quite suitable and will deliver significant improvement in comprehension.
For any other situation where there is background noise or distance from the sound source greater than 1.2 metres, then an ALD is a far better choice!
